Uaw Aramark Agreement

UAW and GM on Wednesday announced an interim agreement on a 31-day strike that paralyzed the automaker. Nearly 49,000 union members went on strike at GM on September 16. While these levels are covered by the 2019 agreement, outsourced work, such as maintenance. B, once covered by the framework contract, are executed by workers from other companies. In Michigan and Ohio, 850 employees hired by Aramark and represented by the UAW work at GM, who perform a large number of tasks. They went out the day before the GM workers` strike, some refused to cross their picket line, others pecked with them before showing up for work. “If we hear that they have reached an interim agreement and nothing has been said about us, it has put a lot of local members in turmoil, because what does that mean?” said Tamara Sullivan. “Does this mean that they will have to cross our line if we are exactly the same local union?” And whatever the cores of the preliminary agreement, including an agreement to hire 400 apprentices for craft programs, maintain current health care costs and grant a 3% wage increase for two of the four years – they are meagre given GM`s profits. Wage increases, signing bonuses, lump sum payments and profit sharing are still below what a COST-of-Living-Adjustment (COLA) agreement does. Without COLA (which ensures that inflation does not enter wages), the payment will effectively remain flat. Will the interim agreement be voted up or down? UAW officials advertise, even though they recognize plant closures. Lordstown workers say they will reject it and encourage others to do the same.

A first remark about a Listserv offered this evaluation: “As with the last contract. No factory closures and require a UAW authorization to be able to use Time. GM broke those rules last time, so why trust them now?¬†Aramark`s maintenance workers are so critical to the operation that when the GM Tech Center realized that no one was cleaning their offices and bathrooms, they hired more than 100 schorf to fill them. The UAW-Aramark preliminary agreement would increase the wage of the lowest paid worker to $15.18 $US and increase to $17. They would also receive a Christmas bonus of $250 and an additional $150 per quarter if they have a perfect participation. The results of the workers` vote on the agreement have not yet been announced. (16.10.2019) – General Motors` frustrated and hopeful strike workers attended the preliminary agreement of their siblings in the United Auto Workers. The larger the signing bonus, the more they fly in their back pocket – that`s the standard that striking workers can use to evaluate the interim agreement between the United Autoworkers (UAW) and General Motors (GM). The agreement would justify US$11,000 for most employees and even “active temporary workers” $4,500 for ratification of the agreement. The ratification of agreements with Aramark and GM resolves a potentially sensitive problem that would have arisen if one or the other had not done so, although the union found that Aramark workers had suspended their strike until ratification.

The union had ordered auto workers last month to cross the picket lines of maintenance workers and, as the Free Press reported, auto workers were hesitant to do so again.
